With j+ pilot, Juice Technology AG launches a multi-functional web and mobile app which brings together all the key elements in the world of an electric vehicle pilot in an unprecedented manner.
Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, presents the fully integrated j+ pilot application which brings all relevant vehicle, driving and charging data together in one place. Designed to be clear and user-friendly, with the highest graphics standards, it also makes newcomers hungry for electromobility.
The simple j+ pilot software solution, developed from the user’s perspective, concentrates all of the relevant information about the vehicle, driving behaviour, charging processes and electricity consumption in one place. The app also serves as a logbook which is accepted for tax purposes and, thanks to the integrated activation and control function, as a key for the charging station. With universal integration, j+ pilot is the first software solution of its kind and is unique on the market.
The app can be used on both a smartphone and a tablet (iOS and Android) and also exists as a web version for convenient viewing and processing on a desktop computer. Regardless of the end device, comprehensive vehicle, trip and charging analyses are available to users. Whether in the form of a table or as a graphic – the various telemetry data are prepared in a manner that is very clear and visually appealing. The views can also be individually personalised.
Trip list & lava look
All trips, charging processes and downtimes are not only listed in a table, but also shown on the map and – where appropriate – shown as a diagram or graphic. Anyone who wants to can track the speed they’ve been driving at, the electricity consumption and the recuperation over each metre driven. Customisable widgets show the preferred key figures on the dashboard. The user therefore gets a quick overview.
At the same time, the display looks calm and tidy. The contemporary neumorphic design with subtle shades gives the user interface a relief-like 3D feeling. The colour design ensures good readability under all lighting conditions. The lava look, developed in-house by the Juice design department, with the contrast of light grey and graduated bright orange elements on a black background has a modern, provocative style.
The clincher: a digital logbook
The integrated logbook is a valuable tool when it comes to use as a business vehicle. Since it is BMF-compliant (Federal Ministry of Finance) and therefore meets the tax requirements, it is an indispensable tool for anyone who is on the road for business. The purpose of the trip can easily be assigned for every route driven. Whether for business of private use – additional information can later be added to the continuous records.
“The electronic logbook is a feature which has made life easier for thousands of people. It does away with the need for painstaking retrospective entry of the distance travelled. A physical logbook in the glove compartment or a separate payment app become obsolete as a result,” says Christoph Erni, CEO of Juice Technology AG.
Impulse generators for efficient driving – vampire drain – charging with renewable energy
Anyone who drives efficiently drives in an environmentally friendly manner. Because every trip is automatically recorded, j+ pilot makes it clearly visible how much energy the vehicle uses during any given trip and how much is recuperated. This creates motivation to drive economically.
To determine efficient consumption, however, so-called vampire drain, i.e. the drain during downtimes, is taken into consideration in addition to the energy consumed for the trip. Even battery degradation is determined and graphically displayed.
In order to reduce these effects, charging regularly and slowly instead of at fast charge stations is worthwhile. The smartJuice load and charging management system, which is also available through j+ pilot, ensures optimised charging behaviour.
You can also salve your environmentally friendly conscience by charging with electricity from sustainable sources. One option which is available thanks to j+ pilot is favouring the use of solar power which you produce yourself for charging the vehicle.
Consistent software orientation
As a specialist in networked charging infrastructure, Juice Technology already has extensive experience with highly integrated software solutions. On 1 January 2021, renowned vehicle telemetry specialist Albert Frischmann joined Juice in order to put together and lead the international development team for j+ pilot. Thanks to his strategic experience, he was also appointed to the Board of Directors of the subsidiary Juice Telemetrics AG, which was specifically founded for this area of operations.

j+ pilot – available for iOS and Android devices
j+ pilot is suitable for individual drivers and for fleet managers in equal measure. The app can be used independently from the Juice devices. In the near future, an optionally available OBD2 plug will also tap into vehicles which are stingy with data, and even vehicles with combustion engines.
At launch, the app is already compatible with eight vehicle models from various manufacturers: the Audi e-tron, the Opel Corsa-e, the Peugeot 208, the Tesla models S, 3, X and Y, and the i3 from BMW. The app is not associated with a specific manufacturer and can therefore also be readily used with other vehicle models.
Regular updates and future functions
j+ pilot is now available as a free download in the App Store from Apple and in the Google Play Store (beta version). The app is available in German and English on launch; other language versions, functions and vehicles will be added over time.
Combined with devices in the j+ range from Juice which will be available in the future, you can enjoy additional benefits such as activation and remote control of the charging station, charging and load management or the payment and billing function. j+ pilot consistently expands the Juice digital ecosystem with this total integration.

- Connection: The app uses the same interfaces used by the vehicle manufacturer’s native apps in order to connect to the vehicle. For vehicles which transmit over-the-air restrictive data and for vehicles with combustion engines, the optionally available OBD2 plug opens up the full functionality.
- Load management: The infinitely scalable smartJuice omni-dynamic charging and load management is an integral part of j+ pilot and is compatible with all charging devices designated j+. smartJuice enables real-time monitoring of the charging processes and prioritisation of individual vehicles.
- Availability: A beta version of j+ pilot is now available to download in the App Store and in the Google Play Store. The app is initially available in German and English. Other languages to follow.
- Price: The basic version of j+ pilot is free for the first four months. In-app purchases allow users to make full use of the app. Owners of Juice devices benefit from functions which are free for life.
