Juice Technology continues its reforestation campaign for CO2 offsetting for its products in Spain

Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, has long been ensuring that as many trees as are required to neutralise the CO2 emissions from its products are planted. Recently, the charging station manufacturer has been supporting a project in Spain in connection with this.

Just one tree is enough to offset the CO2 emissions which occur for the production and transportation of a JUICE CHARGER me. Since one tree absorbs an entire 120 kg of CO2 within ten years of being planted, the entire CO2 footprint of a JUICE BOOSTER 2 or a JUICE Phase is also soon offset. Juice even plants up to twelve trees for its largest charging stations as a contribution to more climate-friendly mobility.

Reforestation with large-scale effects

A year and a half ago, Juice contributed to the restoration of forest areas in British Columbia which were decimated by a devastating forest fire in 2017. This project is now finished for Juice and the company is turning its commitment to Europe.

In Spain, where Juice is represented by a subsidiary as of this year, there is an urgent need for reforestation in an area in which biodiversity is under threat from large pine and eucalyptus plantations. Here, Juice supports the Lurgaia Fundazioa foundation which is striving to create a coherent forest of native trees through One Tree Planted.

The forests of Undabaso in the province of Biscay, which are part of the Urdaibai biosphere reserve, are being restored through reforestation. More than 35 species of tree are being planted. If attention is paid to biodiversity instead of trees being planted in monocultures, then they can easily live to be 50 or a 100 years old. They continue to absorb carbon throughout their lifetime. Trees contribute to clean the air and water, produce oxygen, counteract erosion and provide a CO2-neutral raw material. Reforestation projects also create jobs.

Engagement beyond our own field of business

Electromobility is closely linked with sustainability. The same applies for the charging infrastructure. Here, quality is the easiest way of making a charging station sustainable. A robust design with high-quality components ensures that the charging station is resistant to physical damage. Underlying software orientation and continuous software updates are another way of ensuring a long service life.

Christoph Erni, founder and CEO of Juice Technology AG, affirms Juice’s commitment: “We also offset the embodied energy for our products through reforestation projects. More than 332 football fields of forest have already been planted on our behalf and with financing from us, and that’s being added to every day. The mobility revolution cannot be achieved without widespread electromobility. In order for this to be ecologically sustainable, efforts are required to keep the environmental footprint as small as possible from the outset. That’s why Juice charging stations are designed for durability,” Erni continues.

Juice customers get a personal tree certificate indicating the amount of CO2 offset and the coordinates of the reforestation area.

About Juice Technology

Juice Technology AG, with its headquarters in Cham (Zug, Switzerland), is a globally active manufacturer of charging solutions for electric vehicles. The company’s extensive product portfolio, with AC and DC charging stations ranging from light mobile devices through to large fast chargers, makes it one of a very small number of full-range providers in the industry. Juice has dominated the market in mobile 22 kW charging stations since 2014.

The crucial difference to other solutions available on the market is the consistent software orientation. All devices designated “J+” are based on the same processor and the same firmware, which means they are compatible with one another. Juice saves on time, effort and costs by using its own consistent software architecture. Solutions such as omni-dynamic load management, payment by credit card or the open interface backend are therefore available throughout the product range.

The Juice Group has global reach with its own sites, subsidiaries and affiliates. Juice Services AG, Juice Telemetrics AG, Juice Europe GmbH in Germany with a subsidiary in Munich, Juice Iberia S.L. in Malaga, Zhejiang Juice Technology Co., Ltd in Hangzhou, China and Juice Americas Inc. in St. Petersburg, FL, USA are part of the group of companies. It also has a global network of resellers. More than 170 people currently work in the research and development, production, marketing, administration, purchasing and sales, and logistics departments.
