JUICE CHARGER me 3: New with electronic residual current protection

Less installation effort, lower installation costs

Juice Technology AG, a manufacturer of charging stations and software and a leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, presents a significant development of the JUICE CHARGER me 3. The wallbox is now equipped with integrated residual current protection as standard – compliant and safe.

Previously, the JUICE CHARGER me 3 was optionally available with a mechanical residual current device (RCD) – a solution that increased the device's cost and made installation more complex. The new generation now features integrated electronic residual current protection, enabling users to save CHF/EUR 300–500 per installed device.

New electronic residual current protection for more safety at no extra cost

The electronic residual current device reliably detects both alternating current (AC) residual currents up to 30 mA and direct current (DC) residual currents from 6 mA. This combination complies with Electrosuisse requirements and ensures complete safety during charging. In Switzerland, this eliminates the need for an additional residual current device in the installation. However, in Germany and other EU countries, an upstream Type A RCD and miniature circuit breaker (MCB) may still be necessary – depending on the locally applicable installation regulations.

Benefits for installers: Efficient, safe and cost-saving

The new solution saves time and money during installation. Thanks to the integrated residual current protection, there's no need to install additional external protective components. This simplifies planning and reduces material requirements. The compact design of the JUICE CHARGER me 3 keeps the installation streamlined and space-saving.

Effective immediately, the JUICE CHARGER me 3 is only available with an MID electricity meter and activated electronic residual current device (RCD). With this innovation, Juice Technology enables electrical installers to install efficiently, while its customers benefit from increased safety and significant cost savings.

Electrosuisse on residual current devices (RCDs)

The Low-Voltage Installation Standard (NIN) of the professional organization for the electrical industry, Electrosuisse, stipulates that it is sufficient for wallboxes to meet the relevant and applicable functionalities of at least one RCD Type A according to SN EN 61008-1 or SN EN 61009-1 and DC residual current detection according to IEC 62955. How this is technically implemented—electronically or mechanically—is irrelevant.
