Juice Power AG, a subsidiary of Juice Technology AG, is driving forward energy generation from hydropower for real-time consumption

Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, and leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, is founding Juice Power AG, thereby making another clear commitment to sustainability in electromobility.

Clean energy that reaches the consumer at the same time as it is produced - that is the idea behind Juice Power. Certificates for ecologically generated electricity can be purchased from many electricity companies. But the electricity is only really green when it is fed into the grid at the same time as it is consumed.

Christoph Erni, founder and CEO of Juice Technology AG, pursued this idea when he founded the independent association Eros Electric in 2016 together with Jörg Huwyler, Head of Hydro Energy and Biomass at Axpo. With a sub-investment in two classic hydroelectric power plants, Frisal and Eglisau, Eros Electric has since then supplied its members with clean energy for their electric vehicles around the clock. It was clear right from the start that there was great demand: shortly after its founding, the association already had 700 members. Eros Electric is now being incorporated into Juice Power AG.

Christoph Erni explains: "The demand for electricity from verifiably green production among e-car drivers continues to rise. If we want to charge our car green in real time, we have to resort to controllable green power sources such as hydropower."

Always guaranteed green electricity in the battery – no matter where you are charging
 For Erni, the inclusion of electricity generation is just the next logical step in the development of e-mobility: "We always say: 'Sustainable mobility begins with sustainable charging infrastructure.' But that is just the beginning. That is why we are now going a step further. The electric car, the charging station and the electricity for the vehicle battery must be viewed as inseparable components of an overall concept. Only when everything is generated and operated as emission-free as possible from start to finish will electromobility become more environmentally friendly overall."

Juice therefore not only wants to further expand its commitment to the company and its products, but also actively promote ecological energy production. The optimum that is being sought is electricity from renewable energy sources that is generated at the same time as the charging process. In the near future, this can best be achieved with hydropower.

Ecological action does not end with the abandonment of an exhaust
 Juice's commitment began with the planting of trees to offset the CO2 emissions from the production and transport of the charging stations. Now it continues with the production of as much green electricity as an electric car driver needs to drive. This means that every journey should be at least CO2-neutral. Even those who already use green electricity can overcompensate for their ecological footprint in this way.
