Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, unveils a further development of the popular JUICE CHARGER me wallbox and wins the Red Dot Award.

The JUICE CHARGER me electric car charging station combines the simplest operation with future-proof technology and has therefore enjoyed great popularity since its launch in 2021. The fact that the renowned portal Vergleich.org named the JUICE CHARGER me as the price-performance winner among a representative selection of 11 kW chargers at the beginning of the year also clearly shows that even inexpensive chargers do not have to compromise on features, functionality and design.

Total protection against moisture and dirt
Juice is now bringing the further development of the charger onto the market, taking the wallbox to a new level of safety. With protection class IP67, the charging station is completely dust and waterproof. This increases its longevity when used outdoors and protects the lives of janitors who use pressure washers.

Good design is more than just elegant looks
 The Juice Design Center has further developed the proven, reduced design language of the JUICE CHARGER me. Soft edges enable a new haptic experience. The front panel can be replaced with a click and allows for individual motifs or your own branding.

The sophisticated housing architecture with a new type of inner box reduces the installation time to less than three minutes - regardless of whether the supply cable is mounted on the wall or flush with the wall, or whether the charger is mounted on a pedestal. All connection cables such as power, charging and any Ethernet cables remain connected in a tamper-proof manner.

Christoph Erni, CEO and founder of Juice Technology AG, emphasizes: "This device is self-explanatory and electrician-proof. We presented it to a hundred installers without instructions and they all installed and started it up quickly and without any errors. It is easy to operate and the station does not require any maintenance. All of this is fun and saves money."

The device can be configured as an 11 or 22 kW variant, whereby the 11 kW version can be easily upgraded to 22 kW free of charge using software. The hardware is already designed for this in every version at no extra charge. Regardless of this, the JUICE CHARGER me 3 can be ordered with a directly readable, MID-compliant (calibrated) meter and, as an additional option, with a built-in FI/LS (residual current/circuit breaker). This enables precise, consumption-dependent billing of the charging current and simple, cost-effective integration into power distribution systems. Communication with the JUICE EXO backend and device updates can be carried out either "over the air" via WLAN or wired via Ethernet.

Groundbreaking functions such as the automatic initiation of the charging process via “Plug and Charge” (according to ISO 15118) as an alternative to activation via RFID card or standard load management for up to 250 units are also retained in the new version and make the wallbox convenient, easily expandable and, above all, future-proof.

Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022
 The JUICE CHARGER me 3 has already impressed the independent Red Dot jury before it is launched on the market. After a thorough examination, a panel of 48 design experts certified that the device had outstanding design quality and awarded it the Red Dot Award. There is unanimous agreement that the award-winning companies are setting new standards in the design industry.

  1. Small format: The JUICE CHARGER me 3 is particularly compact with an edge length of 28 cm and a depth of 12.5 cm and also very light, weighing just 6.5 kg (including cable). 5 m of cable ensure the necessary flexibility.

  7. Connectivity: The standardized Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP 1.5/1.6) forms the backbone for the connection to the JUICE EXO (or backends and building management systems from third-party providers) and enables device management, remote maintenance, billing or load management. Three standardized interfaces (Modbus/TCP, Modbus/RTU and EEBUS) ensure communication with a home energy management system. This allows the photovoltaic system to be integrated into the home energy management and external load management control. External communication takes place either via the Ethernet connection (LAN, RJ45) or the integrated WLAN receiver. However, for use as a private individual charging station, no permanent network connection is required and operation is therefore also possible without a LAN connection. In this case, a notebook can simply be connected for updates.
  8. Well thought-out and safe design: The JUICE CHARGER me 3 has a front made of scratch-resistant acrylic glass (PMMA) printed on the inside. The outer casing and the base of the inner casing are made of a composite plastic consisting of polycarbonate (PC) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). ABS is characterized by good impact, scratch and abrasion resistance as well as resistance to oils and grease. The composite material is extremely stable, flame-retardant and certified UV-resistant. The transparent cover of the inner casing is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate (PC). The base and cover are screwed together and form a tightly sealed system. This means that the charger is protected against the ingress of dirt and moisture according to IP67, highly shock-resistant according to IK10 and therefore suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The device can be used at outside temperatures between -30°C and +50°C. Its temperature sensor for reducing the charging current works independently of the ambient temperature. The charging station is CE-compliant according to the two EMC guidelines IEC 61851 and IEC 61439-7.
  9. Installation: The JUICE CHARGER me 3 can be mounted on the wall as a wall box - surface-mounted or flush-mounted (with a supply line from behind). Since all the electronics are housed on a back plate and are therefore independent of the housing, it is possible to mount the charging station rotated by 180° and connect it to a supply line coming from above. The device can also be mounted individually or in pairs on a pedestal.
  10. Activation: An RFID reader (MIFARE Classic/Desfire) is integrated behind the front panel. Activation via RFID is for all cars that do not support the ISO standard 15118 for 'Plug and Charge'. The two pre-programmed cards supplied can be easily blocked and replaced if lost. Alternatively, existing RFID badges (for example from access or canteen systems) can also be read and authorized by the customer.
