With the contribution of its wallboxes to the Mobi.E network, Juice becomes part of a model that sets an example
Juice Technology AG, a manufacturer of charging stations and software and a leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, has successfully applied to participate in the Mobi.E electromobility network with its stationary chargers. The network is contributing to achieving the national energy and climate plan 2030 by significantly expanding the charging infrastructure in Portugal.
Only one charging card for all charging station operators - what is a pious wish in most European countries is already becoming a reality in Portugal. Here, various providers have joined forces under the umbrella company Mobi.E, SA. The biggest advantage for users is that they can use their energy supplier's card or app across the network without any restrictions on service quality. However, this requires charging stations that can be seamlessly integrated into the network.
Universal solutions with user focus for obstacle-free charging
The electromobility networks in many countries are highly segmented. In most cases, each charging station operator has its own private network with proprietary solutions. Therefore, there is no incentive for charging station manufacturers to develop devices that can be easily integrated into any system. Christoph Erni, CEO and founder of Juice Technology AG explains: "Island solutions do not advance electromobility. It is an imposition on the part of charging network operators that you have to carry around five or ten different charging cards just to get power for your car. What is needed are universal offers that are geared towards the users. This insight has been successfully implemented in Portugal with Mobi.E. We are delighted to be part of this lighthouse project."
Erni underlines the pioneering role of his technology company: "User-friendliness was also the driving force behind the founding of Juice and is an integral part of all our solutions. With charging stations that were the first to enable payment by credit card or Apple Pay and Google Pay in 2019 and that can be easily activated via RFID or via Plug and Charge, we have long anticipated this development. Because charging must be simple and work reliably - that is what Mobi.E promises, and that is why our chargers fit perfectly into the concept."
Juice Technology has successfully passed a series of compatibility and integration tests with the JUICE CHARGER me, among others, and has thus qualified for the Mobi.E network.
A model as an example for other countries in Europe
The Portuguese Energy and Climate Plan 2030 envisages a 55 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in the mobility and transport sector. The Mobi.E concept helps to advance the process of transition to sustainable mobility. It allows anyone to charge their vehicle at any charging station in the network, regardless of the operator or owner of the charging points - whether public or private.
Luís Barroso, CEO of Mobi.E, explains: "The Mobi.E network is close to reaching its goal of covering the entire Portuguese territory. In the coming years, we will create further conditions to expand our network at a high growth rate and to connect it more closely with foreign networks. It is therefore crucial for MOBI.E to continue to attract the interest of companies that want to expand their activities in the field of electromobility in Portugal. The entry of foreign companies such as Juice therefore raises great expectations in terms of the growth and internationalization of the Mobi.E network."
The network has more than 2,485 charging stations nationwide, around three quarters of which are AC chargers, with a total of 5,100 charging points. The current number of users is 58,500.
Facts at a glance
JUICE CHARGER me: The wallbox is completely preconfigured at the factory and ready for immediate use (plug and play). When connected to the charging socket, the charging station automatically recognizes any car that already has the plug-and-charge standard according to ISO 15118 and starts charging immediately. An RFID reader is integrated for all vehicles that do not yet support ISO 15118. Local dynamic charging management in master-slave operation is on board for up to 250 charging stations. In addition, the cloud-based omnidynamic, infinitely scalable charging and load management smartJUICE is available. A version with an MID-certified meter is available for operation with charging/load management.
MOBI.E: The Mobi.E network is the result of a pilot project launched in 2010, during which Mobi.E, SA ensured operations during a transitional period and contributed to the establishment of a market. Mobi.E, SA is now a listed company and has been responsible for managing and monitoring the network of charging stations since 2015, particularly in terms of energy and financial flows. The Mobi.E network currently includes 27 electricity suppliers and 73 charging station operators.
Mobi.E was created to meet the increasing adoption of electric mobility as the world's first nationwide charging network. It provides a competitive market framework by acting as an intermediary between the various providers and roaming partners, ensuring full interoperability and integration of all parties involved.

About Juice Technology
Juice Technology AG, headquartered in Bachenbülach (near Zurich Airport, Switzerland), is a global manufacturer of charging solutions for electric vehicles. The company's extensive product portfolio of AC and DC charging stations, from light mobile devices to large fast chargers, makes it one of the very few full-range suppliers in the industry. Juice has dominated the global market for mobile 22 kW charging stations since 2014.
The decisive difference to other solutions available on the market is the consistent software orientation. All devices marked with "j+" are based on the same processor and the same firmware, which means they are compatible with each other. By using a single, consistent software architecture, Juice saves a lot of time, effort and money. Solutions such as omnidynamic load management, credit card payment or the interface-open backend are therefore available for the entire product range.
The Juice Group has a global presence with its own locations, subsidiaries and partner companies. The group includes Juice Services AG, Juice Telemetrics AG, the German Juice Europe GmbH with a branch in Munich, Juice Nordics AB in Uppsala, Juice Iberia SL in Malaga, Juice France SAS in Paris, Zhejiang Juice Technology Co., Ltd in Hangzhou, China and Juice Americas Inc. in Delaware, USA.
