JUICE ULTRA 2 battery in die Liste der förderfähigen DC-Charger aufgenommen

JUICE ULTRA 2 battery added to the list of eligible DC chargers

Grid-friendly DC charging for companies now cheaper than ever

Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, and leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, is pleased about the announcement by the National Control Center for Charging Infrastructure (DE) that the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery has been added to the list of eligible DC chargers. The JUICE ULTRA 2 in slim, large and hub versions is also among the qualified fast charging stations.

The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery can be connected directly to conventional industrial sockets - such as CEE32, CEE63 or CEE125 - which enables super-fast and cost-effective installation. This simple connection without civil engineering work or network expansion makes it ideal for helping companies to set up fast charging points efficiently.

Sensible use of funding

With the new funding measure from the Federal Ministry for Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV), which provides an additional 150 million euros for the construction of commercial fast-charging infrastructure, companies can be reimbursed up to 40% of the eligible costs for the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery. For charging points with an output of more than 150 kW - such as the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery - small and medium-sized companies receive a maximum of 30,000 euros and large companies 15,000 euros. The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery costs from 199,000 euros, which means that the funding amount is fully utilized. Compared to a conventional DC charger, the direct current fast charger from Juice is cheaper in the first year because the extra costs for installation and power peaks are eliminated.

Advantages of the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery

The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery offers numerous advantages over conventional fast charging stations without internal battery storage, such as grid-friendly fast charging, the easy use of solar power and, above all, the exceptionally quick and easy installation.
Thanks to the internal battery storage, the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery enables fast charging without causing peak loads in the power grid. The internal battery is charged continuously throughout the day, either from the grid or from a PV system. Since the use of renewable energies is a prerequisite for the subsidy, operation with a PV system is particularly advantageous because it does not require any additional installations. The device also saves time and resources because it is easy to set up and can be operated directly without any complex installation work.

funding and application

Applications for funding have been possible since June 3, 2024 through the Jülich project management agency. Funding is provided as equity financing with a funding rate of up to 40% for small and medium-sized companies and 20% for large companies. Eligible expenditure is limited to a maximum amount and the installation must be completed within 18 months of approval.

The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery – the facts at a glance:

  1. DC fast charging without expanding the grid: The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery has a high charging capacity despite a low grid connection power and enables fast charging with up to 210 kW. The 233 kWh battery is sufficient for six standard charging processes in series and is then quickly recharged. There is also a 466 kWh battery variant for double the charging power.
  2. Super-fast installation: The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery can be connected directly to a standard red CEE industrial socket without any complex structural measures. A connection via CEE63 or CEE125 enables even faster charging and around 40 standard charging processes per day, which also makes the device suitable for fast-charging hubs on main roads.
  3. Avoiding peak loads: By continuously supplying the batteries with electricity, the load on the grid is reduced to a minimum, which in turn is reflected in significantly lower fees for the grid operator. Overall, this results in significantly more cost-efficient operation than with conventional DC fast charging stations. This means that the additional cost of the battery is usually paid off in less than a year.
  4. Solar-controlled charging: The clever energy management system of the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery enables electricity from PV systems to be stored and used to charge electric vehicles without additional installations. The solar power produced is first used for the building's own consumption before it is used to charge the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery. PV surplus charging has never been so easy.
