Juice Technology presents its bidirectional innovation in Munich

Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, will be presenting to the public for the first time and exclusively at Power2Drive Europe 2024 in Munich: the mobile, bidirectional AC charging station.

At Juice, everything revolves around bidirectional charging at the international trade fair Power2Drive in Munich. From June 19 to 21, 2024, visitors will have the opportunity to see this groundbreaking innovation for themselves.

Relevance of the bidirectional AC solution

Bidirectional DC charging stations are expensive. The financial hurdle has so far slowed down the further development of bidirectional charging itself. Juice Technology has overcome this barrier and developed an affordable bidirectional AC solution based on the JUICE BOOSTER, which is used worldwide. In addition to plug adapters, socket adapters can also be connected to the bidirectional variant.

The AC solutions currently available on the market are often cumbersome and usually require additional devices such as dongles or adapters. In addition, these are usually only isolated solutions for specific applications such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-load (V2L) or vehicle-to-home (V2H). The market situation is generally quite manageable, and the range of options for vehicle-to-grid (V2G) in particular is very limited.

Juice has set itself the goal of overcoming this fragmentation and has developed a comprehensive, future-proof - and cost-effective - solution that covers all unidirectional and bidirectional charging scenarios with a single device that can continue to be used as a mobile charging station at over 35 different sockets. Development is already being driven forward with an eye on future norms and standards to facilitate the use and integration of this technology.

Initiative for Partnerships and Standards

For a future-proof bidirectional AC solution, the early involvement of all relevant actors is crucial so that new communication standards can be established.

"Our goal is to combine all functions in one device," explains Christoph Erni, CEO and founder of Juice Technology. "That's why partnerships are essential for the further development of our bidirectional solution, especially for feeding the stored energy back into the grid (V2G). Now we want to get even more players on board to develop new standards and norms together with OEMs (automotive manufacturers) and energy supply companies (EVS)."

Initial development partnerships with OEMs and utilities have already been successfully established. These collaborations are crucial to ensure that the bidirectional AC solution can be recognized and interpreted by all vehicle models, regardless of the brand.

With two representatives in the relevant standards committees for fixed and mobile charging stations – including an electrical engineering specialist and the CEO himself – Juice Technology plays a key role in the standardization of the electromobility industry.
