With ISO 27001 certification, Juice Technology AG receives proof of information security and data protection
Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, has always placed great value on cyber security. Its efforts have now been officially recognised.
Many companies underestimate the dangers of cyber attacks – not so at Juice Technology. “We differ from other companies in the industry thanks to our consistent focus on software and the associated ‘Software First’ and ‘Security-by-Design’ approaches. The security aspect is an integral part of product planning and development for us,” says Christoph Erni, CEO of Juice Technology AG.
With certification in accordance with the leading international standard, ISO/IEC 27001, the technology company now makes its efforts in security visible to the outside world. That is very important to customers, business partners and investors. They can rely on the fact that not only are they getting a flawless, physically safe charging station, they also have proof that IT security is of great importance to the company.
The international standard ISO/IEC 27001 is considered to be the most important cyber security certification in the world. It demonstrates that measures have been taken for information security and the protection of data, and that these are regularly reviewed. This proof is essential for companies with a high level of innovation because the intellectual product is their real capital. But information security affects the entire company network. Ultimately, partners, customers, investors and of course also users of services and charging infrastructure trust that their data is collected securely by Juice.
Cyber security ensures improved protection for charging station manufacturers
ISO certification is an important step for Juice towards improved protection against risks, but it is just part of a key strategy which is in development owing to the increasingly stringent requirements for information security. Because cyber security is very important, particularly for e-mobility. Thomas R. Köhler, businessman, lecturer and expert in cyber security and data protection, as well as member of the Board of Directors at Juice Technology AG, points out: “Many drinks machines are better protected than charging stations. The possible attack scenarios are varied and not even particularly elaborate. An attacker can read or manipulate data in electronics with poor security, thus gain control of the system and use it for a wide variety of possible criminal activities.”
Electromobility is experiencing a boom. The wide variety of possible dangers resulting from insufficient software security are often underestimated by young companies or pure hardware manufacturers which have hitherto had little focus on software. “The effects of a cyber incident are far-reaching: Aside from the damage to or loss of data or outage of computers and systems, operational processes are also compromised. The resulting losses of productivity can be dramatic – not to mention to damage to the company’s image,” says Christoph Erni, founder and CEO of Juice Technology AG. As someone who comes from the IT industry, he is very familiar with the topic.
E-mobility security – the 3-level concept
Juice sees the security of electromobility as an integral concept which, in addition to mechanical security, also includes application security and data security. To underline the great importance that Juice attributes to cyber security, the innovative company is focusing on the topic of cyber security and charging infrastructure at the Juice World Charging Day on Monday 6 September 2021. Alongside CEO Christoph Erni, cyber security expert Prof. Thomas R. Köhler will also speak on this topic. You can follow the event from 2:50 p.m. on the live stream at www.juice-world.com/jwcd.
ISO standard 27001:
The international standard ISO/IEC 27001 is considered to be the most important cyber security certification. It stipulates documented proof of an information security management system (ISMS for short) as a central measure. This contains clear guidelines for the planning and implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of information security. Protection against external threats should be ensured through appropriate measures, for example technical means such as regular, centrally managed updates. Internal protection, which includes things like regulated access to server rooms, exclusion of administrator rights for employees or access restrictions on data, are also important. This also includes active contributions by all employees, for example in defending against phishing emails.

About Juice Technology
Juice Technology AG, with its headquarters in Cham (Zug, Switzerland), is a globally active manufacturer of charging solutions for electric vehicles. The company’s extensive product portfolio, with AC and DC charging stations ranging from light mobile devices through to large fast chargers, makes it one of a very small number of full-range providers in the industry. Juice has dominated the market in mobile 22 kW charging stations since 2014.
The crucial difference to other solutions available on the market is the consistent software orientation. All devices designated “J+” are based on the same processor and the same firmware, which means they are compatible with one another. Juice saves on time, effort and costs by using its own consistent software architecture. Solutions such as omni-dynamic load management, payment by credit card or the open interface backend are therefore available throughout the product range.
The Juice Group has global reach with its own sites, subsidiaries and affiliates. Juice Services AG, Juice Telemetrics AG, Juice Europe GmbH in Germany with a subsidiary in Munich, Juice Iberia S.L. in Malaga, Zhejiang Juice Technology Co., Ltd in Hangzhou, China and Juice Americas Inc. in St. Petersburg, FL, USA are part of the group of companies. It also has a global network of resellers. More than 170 people currently work in the research and development, production, marketing, administration, purchasing and sales, and logistics departments.
