Record-breakingly fast HPC installation

Juice Technology AG – manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles – installs the first JUICE ULTRA 2 battery in Switzerland and now offers the DC fast-charging station JUICE ULTRA 2 battery for public charging.

Having only just been delivered, the first Swiss fast-charging station JUICE ULTRA 2 battery with integrated energy storage is already installed and ready for use. For Christoph Erni, CEO and founder of Juice, this is a remarkable achievement in many respects: “It sounds crazy, but the fact is: we have connected a 160-kW DC fast-charging station to a three-phase CEE16 socket. At 11 kW, this is the same maximum output power drawn by a JUICE BOOSTER 3 air.”

Erni, who followed the unboxing personally, is clearly delighted: “We set up the aesthetically pleasing device at noon, and the first charging operations took place that same afternoon. It’s a bit like Christmas and Easter rolled into on. None of the onlookers would have expected it to be so quick. Conventional DC chargers require earthworks and usually a higher-power mains connection. In this case, an industrial socket is sufficient. Minimum obstacles, maximum efficiency.”

The innovative high-power charger located in front of the Juice World headquarters in Bachenbülach is now available as a public charging station with two charging points. A further AC station, the JUICE CHARGER me 3, has now also been activated as a public charging point. The other 40 parking and charging spaces spread across the company premises remain reserved for employees and guests.

The charging costs are 39 cents per AC and 59 cents per DC kilowatt hour. Payment is made directly via credit card for maximum user-friendliness. Customers are billed according to the actual consumption and based on the price list at the end of the charging process. Invoices can be sent by e-mail.

The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery – the facts at a glance:

    1. DC fast charging without network expansion: The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery boasts a high charging capacity despite the low mains input power and allows fast charging with up to 210 kW. The 233-kWh battery offers sufficient capacity for six normal charging operations as standard and is rapidly recharged once depleted. A 466-kWh battery variant is also available for double the charging power.
    2. Superfast installation: The JUICE ULTRA 2 battery can be connected directly to a conventional red CEE industrial outlet without the need for any elaborate construction work. Connections established via CEE63 or CEE125 enable even faster charging and around 40 standard charging operations per day, meaning that the device is also suitable for fast-charging hubs situated along trunk roads.
    3. Avoidance of load peaks: Due to the continuous electricity supply to the batteries, the load on the network is kept to a minimum, which in turn results in significantly lower fees from the grid operator. All this adds up to significantly more cost-efficient operation than with conventional DC fast-charging stations. As a result, the additional cost of the battery is usually paid for in less than a year.
    4. Solar-powered charging: The clever energy management system of the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery allows electricity from PV systems to be stored and used for charging electric vehicles without the need for additional installations. The generated solar power is first used for internal consumption within the building before being utilised to charge the JUICE ULTRA 2 battery. PV surplus charging has never been so simple.
