Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, is the winner of the GreenTech Award 2022/2023 for innovation in the transportation category.
The GreenTech Award is given to companies and research institutions whose inventiveness has been proven to contribute to climate protection. New marketable ideas and patents from such creators have the potential to delay or reverse climate change. Juice convinced the jury with its constant innovative power. The patents it has recently filed for new, groundbreaking developments were the reason why Juice was awarded the GreenTech Award.
"For Juice, this award is a great honor and confirmation that we are on exactly the right path. It has always been our goal to develop our numerous product and technology innovations with sustainability in mind," says Christoph Erni, CEO and founder of Juice, proudly.
Of over 600,000 companies, only 323 were shortlisted - and of these, at the end of the study, only those companies that had an above-average score in at least one technology field were awarded the GreenTech Award.
Innovation means rethinking things, questioning what already exists and using resources to bring about progress. Juice has been developing from the user's perspective from the very beginning and has therefore already brought a large number of new technological developments to market. This innovative achievement in the field of mobility has now been recognized by the Swiss Institute for Quality Testing with the GreenTech Award for Innovation .
This award recognizes companies for outstanding innovative achievements in one of eight technology fields relevant to environmental and climate protection. The patent serves as the benchmark for evaluation. Patents provide a verifiable, factual basis for assessment, as they provide official proof of an intellectual achievement worthy of protection and clearly demonstrate that a novel solution concept has been implemented.
Integral charging solution as access to e-mobility
Integrated charging solutions that lower the threshold to electromobility for all users are the prerequisite for a successful mobility transition. Christoph Erni sees his credo confirmed: "We want charging vehicles to be as automatic and easy as charging a mobile phone - in other words, an everyday banality. The paradox is that so that technology no longer plays a role for users, it requires cutting-edge technology and a lot of experience. That's why we perfect all of our products until hardware and software are seamless. Our mission is to give the spread of electromobility a further boost. Because we are convinced that the faster it becomes more established, the faster we can free ourselves from many of the problems associated with fossil fuels."
Switzerland as a center of innovation and technology
Switzerland is known as a location for strong innovation in technology. It is not for nothing that, in international comparison, the highest number of patent applications per million inhabitants come from Switzerland. Many SMEs operate in niche markets in which they are among the world leaders with their high-tech products, which are characterized by high precision, quality and timeless design. They develop elegant solutions for the relevant challenges of our time. Whether in the area of more sustainable mobility or the resource-efficient production and use of energy: technical innovations should have a positive impact on the environment and make the world more livable, safer - in short: better.
Juice devices are a door opener for more sustainable mobility. They are extremely resistant to environmental influences and absolutely robust, which makes them durable. Because they are retrofittable and updateable, they can be updated as requirements change. They are also CO2-compensated by planting trees. Juice solutions make charging with electricity that is generated at the same time as consumption from guaranteed green sources easily accessible to everyone.
To the GreenTech Award
The "GreenTech Award 2022/23" honors companies that have distinguished themselves through extraordinary innovative achievements in one of eight technology fields with environmental and climate protection relevance. The patent was chosen as the "unit of measurement". The basis was the classification codes of the IPC (International Patent Classification System) defined by the OECD. These special IPC codes were used to determine the patent applications and grants for Swiss companies in the 2020/21 study period.
The basic parameter of the number of patents per technology field was rounded by the qualitative factor of citation frequency and condensed into a score value. Regardless of jury preferences, fluctuations in the zeitgeist or product trends, patents are an expression of inventiveness, represent an official certificate for an intellectual achievement worthy of protection and are objective evidence that a novel solution approach has been found.
From more than 600,000 companies, 323 companies were shortlisted - and of these, at the end of the study, only those companies with an above-average score in at least one technology field were awarded the GreenTech Award. Juice was awarded in the transportation category ("climate change technologies related to transportation"). A total of 103 companies from a wide range of economic segments were awarded the GreenTech Award this year.
