Juice Technology AG carries the temperature sensor technology, which is already integrated into the Schuko plug, over into domestic adapters for Switzerland, Italy and the UK

Juice Technology AG, manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles, is now also integrating its patented JUICE CELSIUS temperature sensor into the domestic adapters for Switzerland, Italy and the UK and thus ensuring safe and worry-free charging.

Vehicles are charged wherever they are stopped for a long period of time – generally in the workplace or at home, and often using normal sockets if no bigger connector is available. But domestic sockets aren’t designed for this high continuous current load. Add to this the fact that older buildings in particular often don’t have perfect wiring or the electrical installations are faulty, which is why overheating of the socket and, in the worst case, fires can occur. Even just a socket contaminated with dust which has built up over the years can dangerously overheat and cause a fire.

Juice Technology AG has studied this problem and has now integrated the JUICE CELSIUS temperature sensor, which is already in Schuko plugs, into domestic plugs for Switzerland (T12/T13), Italy (type L) and the UK (type G). The patented solution ensures absolutely safe charging processes, even at conventional domestic sockets. The domestic adapters, newly developed from the ground up, are all VDE tested. The angled design stops the socket sleeve getting worn out from pushing and pulling.

Simple communication via the JUICE CONNECTOR

The integrated temperature sensors communicate with the JUICE BOOSTER 2 via the JUICE CONNECTOR. If the plug registers possible overheating, it sends a signal to the mobile charging station which then in turn brings charging to a controlled stop. As a result, there is no damage to the socket or the electric vehicle’s battery.

As soon as the pins have returned to a normal temperature, the charging process restarts. Three restarts, with gradually reduced outputs to some extent, ensure that the vehicle is nevertheless charged in the morning. If the plug still overheats on the third attempt, then the charging cycle is stopped entirely for the safety of the user.

As of now, the JUICE CELSIUS is integrated into all Schuko, T12/T13, type G and type L adapters for the JUICE BOOSTER 2. With no additional costs for the consumer: The set prices remain the same.

Occurrence and fighting of cable fires

  1. Cause: Overloaded cables and faulty electrical installations, as well as conducting too much electricity through cables which are too weak, can result in cable fires. Too many electronic devices connected to a multiple socket is another cause.
  2. Anticipation: In most cases, smouldering fires and cable fires occur in walls and are therefore only noticed relatively late. But there are various indications: Crackling noises or sparking when turning electrical devices or light switches on and off, fuses repeatedly tripping, inexplicable loose connections and flickering lights, as well as image interference on the TV.
  3. Prevention: Purchase essential electrical devices exclusively from reputable specialist retailers such as Juice Technology resellers. Cheap devices and sockets break much more often under high electrical load than high-quality devices. Devices which are not in use should always be unplugged.

About Juice Technology

Juice Technology AG, with its headquarters in Cham (Zug, Switzerland), is a globally active manufacturer of charging solutions for electric vehicles. The company’s extensive product portfolio, with AC and DC charging stations ranging from light mobile devices through to large fast chargers, makes it one of a very small number of full-range providers in the industry. Juice has dominated the market in mobile 22 kW charging stations since 2014.

The crucial difference to other solutions available on the market is the consistent software orientation. All devices designated “J+” are based on the same processor and the same firmware, which means they are compatible with one another. Juice saves on time, effort and costs by using its own consistent software architecture. Solutions such as omni-dynamic load management, payment by credit card or the open interface backend are therefore available throughout the product range.

The Juice Group has global reach with its own sites, subsidiaries and affiliates. Juice Services AG and Juice Europe GmbH in Germany with a subsidiary in Munich are part of the group of companies. It also has a global network of resellers. More than 150 people currently work in the research and development, production, marketing, administration, purchasing and sales, and logistics departments. The company is currently tripling its turnover every year.
