Zurich-based charging station manufacturer Juice cooperates with AEW eMobility

Juice Technology AG – manufacturer of charging stations and software, leader in mobile charging stations for electric vehicles – is cooperating with the energy supplier AEW and strengthening its position in the domestic market.

Juice and AEW Energie AG share a common vision of making electromobility more readily accessible to all. AEW has made a name for itself as an integrated energy supplier and is also involved in the planning, creation, maintenance and servicing of charging stations. In addition, AEW offers interesting contracting solutions and is a co-founder of the car-sharing platform Swiss E-Car. Partnering with Juice allows AEW to expand its range of services and offer innovative solutions in the field of electromobility.

Christoph Erni, founder and CEO of Juice, is delighted with the new alliance: “The partnership with AEW represents an important step for both companies – particularly with regard to the domestic market. Our JUICE CHARGER me 3 is developed and manufactured in Switzerland, complies with all relevant standards – something which is still not a given – and is very easy to install. The rapid commissioning and low failure rate are of significant benefit to the full-service package delivered by AEW.”

The JUICE CHARGER me and JUICE CHARGER me 3 feature integrated load management and, thanks to standardised interfaces and protocols, can be incorporated seamlessly into AEW’s backend system. Both aspects were a fundamental prerequisite for the successful conclusion of the contract and integration of the Juice charging stations into the contracting product offered by AEW.

“Gaining Juice as a partner is a real coup for us. The charging stations of the JUICE-CHARGER-me series not only boast the technological performance that we require for our services but also reflect our own very high standards with regard to sustainability and innovation. Their compact and aesthetically pleasing design is another important factor”, explains Arian Rohs, head of Mobility Solutions at AEW.

The first Juice charging stations have already been successfully commissioned by AEW, and the two companies plan to implement further exciting projects in the field of electromobility in the coming months.

Using software, the smart 11-kW wall charger can be upgraded to a maximum charging capacity of 22 kW at no additional cost. The device is supplied fully preconfigured and merely has to be connected (Plug & Play). Activation is performed either via RFID or Plug & Charge (according to ISO 15118). A graphical user interface enables intuitive onboarding of the charging stations in a matter of minutes.
The necessary connectivity is established via Wi-Fi and Ethernet. Dynamic load management for up to 250 units is included as standard along with an MID-certified current meter for taking direct readings. The charging station is available with an optional residual current circuit breaker with overcurrent protection (RCBO) for straightforward integration into power distribution systems.
Support for the OCPP 1.5 and 1.6 protocols enables connection to various backends, which ensures compatibility with virtually all commercial charging networks (incl. swisscharge, eCarUp and Virta). Alternatively, the in-house JUICE-EXO backend can be used for station management, user administration and billing purposes.
The JUICE CHARGER me 3 is CE-compliant according to all applicable EMC directives and can be used in outdoor temperatures ranging from -30°C to 50°C. It boasts IP67 protection against dirt and moisture penetration and is highly impact-resistant according to IK10, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
The multilayer housing comprises a tightly screwed inner casing and an attachable outer casing the front of which is made from scratch-resistant, internally-printed acrylic glass. The click-in, replaceable front panel enables individual motifs and custom branding.

Juice Technology AG, with its headquarters in Bachenbülach (near Zurich airport, Switzerland), is a globally active manufacturer of charging solutions for electric vehicles. The company’s extensive product portfolio, with AC and DC charging stations ranging from light mobile devices through to large fast chargers, makes it one of a very small number of full-range providers in the industry. Juice has dominated the global market for mobile 22-kW charging stations since 2014.

Solutions such as omni-dynamic load management, credit card payment and the open-interface backend are therefore available for the full range of products.
