Part 1 on the topic of charging with a credit card from our CEO Christoph Erni provoked numerous reactions. The topic seems to polarise people: there didn’t seem to be any grey areas between rejection and full support. Part 2 therefore follows here in order to show that there’s no black or white.
Anyone who is interested in e-mobility is modern and ahead of their time. You might think that. But some ideas are hard to shake. For example, the idea that you have to insert coins, notes or a card into a slot in order to initiate a payment process. Why hasn’t anyone hit on the idea of inserting their mobile into a card slot in order to pay using Apple Pay or Google Pay? The answer is: NFC. Whether AC or DC – the only thing that should be plugged in for charging is V for vehicle connection. Holding up a credit card, debit card or mobile phone should be enough to pay for charging contactlessly via NFC. And holding an RFID tag or a charging card to a charger should be enough to activate the charging process. The charging process at public charging pillars should be as easy as possible: Plug in for straightforward charging is the motto!
